Malia Mead, MA, LMFT

Welcome! My name is Malia and I am the Founder and Owner of Calming Waters Counseling LLC est. 2016. I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and have been in practice over 10 years. I am currently licensed in the states of Colorado and Texas. My practice is fully virtual which means I can reach clients across the entire states of Colorado and Texas. This has proven to provide flexibility, outreach to services and support for many clients. Research has shown virtual therapy is just as effective as in person therapy.

My practice areas are not limited to but are predominantly focused on helping clients with anxiety, depression, addictions, divorce, grief, relationship concerns, women’s issues, trauma processing, spirituality and more. I use therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Person Centered, Narrative, Spiritual Counseling, Coaching/Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic therapy to new a few. My approach is strength based, focusing on the resilience of each client in a safe, non-judgmental, engaging space.

My practice is based on working with individual adult clients 18+ one on one from a relational perspective. As a licensed marriage family therapist, focus is often on the couple or family however, my practice is unique in that I focus on individuals only to help support them in their relationships and environments. We will focus on your own healing, coping, discovering patterns of behavior built on values, beliefs that formed a story about your own self over years. We work to change and heal the parts of the story that are not authentic, true or aligned to who you are today. We will rewrite a true narrative that supports who you are today. We will explore unhealthy beliefs and patterns that will end with you. We know that when we focus on our own repair, rewiring and resilience, we can support ourselves regardless of our relationships and environments.

We know, that healing and improving our own self is what we can do. It is our responsibility to show up as our best, most authentic self and that is possible with my approach to therapy.

If you are ready to seek support, please take the brave step to reach out. I look forward to working with you.
